Ever wondered what the best wedding venues in Leeds are? Fancy having a traditional function or a more urban wedding? We decided to share some of our favourite wedding sites in our local city of Leeds.

In the last few years Leeds, West Yorkshire has become increasingly popular for weddings. There are so many new restaurants, galleries, hotels, and bars offering wedding packages. There are all kinds of exciting possibilities for couples wanting a unique wedding. From photographing weddings, we have got to know some of the best Leeds wedding venues. Couples often ask us for advice on wedding sites, and we are excited to share some of our favourites with you to help with your planning.

The Mansion - Mansion Lane, Roundhay, Leeds

We’ll start with one of our favourite locations: The Mansion in Roundhay Park, Leeds. With a tree-lined approach up to the collonaded entrance and a sweeping staircase to the ballrooms, The Mansion is one of West Yorkshire's most elegant historic wedding venues. This Grade II listed regency building is located within 700 acres of spectacular parkland, a magical setting that will dazzle you and your guests.

The Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds

Fancy having your first dance with your knight in shining armour? Then why not get hitched at The New Dock, home to the Royal Armouries Museum. A modern waterfront development that is so close to Leeds city centre yet has plenty of parking and hotels nearby. Add some drama by hiring out the Tournament gallery or War Gallery. This is a popular venue for creating themed wedding evenings, and it provides a historic backdrop for your big day. Best of all your guests can enjoy an exciting display of dramatic interpretations and live action events! Set in the heart of Leeds this venue gives you a great mix of urban cool and gorgeous history. The building itself is stunning inside, with a selection of different halls, suites and museum rooms that can cater for both small, medium and large weddings.

Leeds City Museum

While we’re on the subject of arts and culture, in the heart of Leeds city centre stands the Leeds City Museum. This museum offers an all in one solution for your wedding. Leeds City Museum is one of the town's most stunning venues, huge luxurious, with a lot of character. With its historic exterior and the sweeping view across Millennium Square to its stylish and contemporary spaces, the museum is a genuinely novel location for any wedding. Brodrick Hall is the beautiful central arena within the museum, overlooked by a first-floor balcony. We love the urban views over Leeds.

The Cheerful Chilli, Chilli Barn, East Chevin Road, Otley, Leeds

If a restaurant on the outskirts of Leeds is more your thing, check out The Cheerful Chilli, Chilli Barn in Otley. The food is delicious, as you would expect from a restaurant, and the place has excellent staff and a relaxed vibe. The Chilli Barn is a Wharfedale stone barn, lovingly converted to offer a charming, intimate atmosphere. With a dramatic rural setting, useful transport links and delicious vegetarian catering the memories of your day at Chilli Barn are certainly ones to treasure.

The Engine Shed, Wetherby, Leeds

If you love the character of the Engine Shed, then you’ll adore the alternative style of wedding celebration offered here. The Engine Shed was formerly a goods shed for the Harrogate to Church Fenton railway. This Grade II listed building is based in the heart of Wetherby and has been renovated to create a genuinely unparalleled venue.

Denton Hall, Denton Road, Ilkley, Leeds, West Yorkshire

Denton Hall is one of Leeds's most sought-after wedding venues, only offering one wedding a week. This 18th-century Georgian country house set in 2,500 acres of parkland is yours from Friday evening to midday Sunday. Enjoy the picturesque lake views and have full reign to explore the Hall, grounds, spiral staircase and 24 luxury bedrooms. Make sure to book ahead with this venue if you set your heart on it!

Left Bank, Cardigan Road, Leeds

Left Bank is an unusual venue, a Grade II listed former church. The building was designed in a dramatic late Gothic style and is set in Headingley Leeds. This wonderfully versatile space offers ample room for both a wedding blessing and reception, with capacity for up to 300 guests. Best of all the area is exclusively yours for the entirety of your celebrations, and all profits will go towards preserving this truly unique venue.

The Craiglands Hotel, Cowpasture Road, Ilkley, Leeds

Also in Ilkley is the Craiglands Hotel. The hotel is a wonderful example of Victorian Architecture with tall, detailed ceilings and chandeliers to help you celebrate the day in style. As well as offering their grand rooms for weddings, they’ve got a conservatory with panoramic views of the Ilkley Moors.

Bowcliffe Hall, Bramham, Wetherby, Leeds, North Yorkshire

If you are looking for the stately atmosphere of a county house, then the grand Georgian architecture and manicured grounds of Bowcliffe Hall is ideal. Bowcliffe Hall, built between 1805 - 1825, has a certain elegance. Nestled away in Wetherby it is another one of our favourite venues, although they offer a minimal number of weddings per year.

East Keswick Village Hall, School Lane, East Keswick, Leeds

Nestled among sleepy villages this unassuming building is tucked away out of sight but offer you the freedom to design your wedding reception how you would like. East Keswick Village Hall is a perfect blank canvas so you can make this hall whatever you want it to be. The room is surrounded by vast swathes of the gorgeous countryside yet is only 15-20mins from the city centre.

Oulton Hall, Rothwell Lane, Oulton, Leeds

Oulton Hall near Rothwell, Leeds lends itself perfectly to wedding photography. This place offers incredible photo opportunities and locations. The distinctive grounds and interiors create the wedding you've dreamt of.

The Faversham, Leeds

The Faversham is right on the doorsteps of Leeds City Centre, and you can have your ceremony and reception all under the one roof if you book into this multipurpose Leeds Venue. You can have exclusive use of this unusual, unforgettable, alternative and relaxed wedding venue. A far cry from traditional this wedding venue is set within its grounds on the outskirts of Leeds city centre. There are three different rooms to choose where you want to say, “I do!”. The Faversham guarantee a wedding day that is entirely tailored around you.

Elland Road Football Stadium, Elland Rd, Leeds

Choosing a wedding venue can be a daunting task but booking Elland Road for any Leeds United fans would be a dream come true. With a fabulous suite, license for civil ceremonies and the ability to cater for up to 1200 guests Elland Road is a huge event and wedding space for any football fans.

Guiseley Theatre, The Green, Guiseley, Leeds

If you are looking for a DIY wedding then why not have a look at Guiseley Theatre, this site allows you to create your special day, using the theatre as a blank canvas to create what you please. The only limit is your imagination! You will have sole use of the building from the day before to decorate through to the day after your wedding to tidy away. If you are looking to be in the spotlight, here the bride and groom can take centre stage. As Guiseley Theatre you are free to bring in any decorations, entertainers, DJs and caterers you desire.

Kirkstall Abbey and The Gatehouse restaurant at Abbey House Museum

​Moving slightly closer to the city centre, did you know that Kirkstall Abbey happens to be one of Leeds’ coolest wedding venues. Just imagine being able to say your vows in front of their ancient surroundings, on the dramatic backdrop of the 12th-century abbey ruins. The spectacular church is perfect for both ceremonies and receptions with its 200-foot aisle — both a majestic and poetic setting for a blessing or vow renewal. The Colonel North Room in the Abbey Visitor Centre can be hired for your drinks and canapés reception. The Gatehouse restaurant, part of the Abbey House Museum, is a desirable location with excellent food for your evening reception.

Hazlewood Castle, Paradise Lane, Hazlewood, Leeds

Hazelwood Castle is a privately owned stunning yet quaint castle. Found in the outskirts of Leeds and set in seventy-seven acres of magnificent parkland and gardens this castle dates back to the 11th century. Onsite is the beautiful Leonard's Chapel and the Vavasour Restaurant. Not only is this venue steeped with history is also offers a woodland wedding venue space. Such a charming hideaway that provides a day like no other.

Issho, 3rd Floor Rooftop, Victoria Gate, Leeds

One of our favourite things about Leeds is all the brilliant bars and restaurants we have. In the heart of Leeds, Issho offers you can escape from the every day at your wedding. The chic authentic Japanese restaurant is contemporary, beautiful and in a prime location. Its name, Issho, means 'together' in Japanese. How correctly named for a day that ties two families together.
We love the views over Leeds from the roof garden!

East Riddlesden Hall

With historic house reflected in the pond, a romantic barn trimmed in twinkling lights and secret gardens, East Riddlesden Hall could be the perfect wedding venue for your big day. A rustic, national trust backdrop for you to say your vows.

Located in Leeds city centre, this popular art gallery has recently re-opened after extensive refurbishment. Leeds Art Gallery homes a collection of 20th-century art and is a unique venue to hire. Within the Leeds Art Gallery, is the magnificent Tiled Hall. The Tiled Hall gets its name from the colourful Victorian tiles, marble columns and an oak, ebony and walnut parquet floor. This is a contemporary, artistic and gorgeous space for any special occasion.

The Leeds Library, 18 Commercial Street, Leeds

What book lover wouldn't love to get married at The Leeds Library? Hidden amongst the bustling shoppers is this stunning grade II listed building overlooking Leeds City Centre. So if you love to read or are looking for a quirky, unique space, The Leeds Library is a fantastic choice.

The Chequers Inn, Claypit Lane, Ledsham, Leeds

If you’re having a small, intimate wedding, your best option could be to celebrate your big day at The Chequers Inn, Ledsham. Quintessentially Yorkshire, the Chequers Inn has a picturesque terraced garden set against a backdrop of beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Thwaite Mills Watermill, Leeds Industrial Museum, Thwaite Ln, Leeds
